Who erase holes in their math workbook. Who can never find their shoes. And we accept responsibility for those. Who stare at photographers from behind barbed wires. Who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers. Who have never gone to circuit. Who lived in an ex-rated world. We accept responsibility for children. Who brings us sticky kisses and fistful of dandelions. Who sleep with the dog and bury goldfish. Who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money. Who cover themselves with band-aids and sing off-key. Who slurp their soup. And we accept responsibility for those. Who have no safe blanket to drag behind them. Who watch their parents who watch them die. Who can't find any bread to steal. Who don't have any rooms to clean up. Whose pictures aren't on anyone's dresser. Whose monsters are real.

OUR MISSION:

Prevent cruelty to children in Boaracay, in every form: physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, street children, child fatalities, child prostitution, children of war, emotional abuse and child labor.

Bantay Bata Boracay is committed to increasing public awareness of all forms of violence against children, developing activities to prevent such violence, and promoting the rights of children in Boracay.

Bantay Bata Boracay invites you to join forces to protect children in need: their bodies, minds, hearts and rights.

THE CHALLENGE:

To lead the multi-sectoral involvement/participation effort in addressing the problem of Child Sex Tourism in Boracay Island. To spearhead information campaign in order to educate the Community, the Private & Government sectors of the effects of the Child Sex Tourism in our Society/Business. To promote the wellbeing of Children in Boracay Island with the help of other NGOs. To push for the implementation of the National & Local laws. Finally, to eradicate the Child Sex Tourism in the Island of Boracay.

DEPT OF TOURISM BORACAY

The Field Office of the Department of Tourism (DOT) has been on Boracay Island since tourism began, and played and plays an important role in development. The DOT Boracay Field Office has two main functions: to facilitate tourist/guest-related activities and to monitor tourism projects in the island.

The activities of the DOT Boracay Office are mainly Tourist assistance as providing information about transportation rates and schedules, tourist destinations in the island and in nearby areas, visa requirements, accommodations, and other services and facilities in Boracay. Another important activity is community relations.

Often the DOT Office on Boracay acts as a relay office fetching and sending off of guests at either the Caticlan airport, the Kalibo airport, or the Caticlan jetty port. DOT personnel can also provide tour guide services. The Boracay Field Office of the DOT also provides assistance for special projects or events in the promotion and development of Boracay. Judith Icotanim, OIC, and Tim Ticar, SP of the DOT Boracay Field Office look forward to your visit and hope you'll visit them in their office. MUNICIPALITY OF MALAY

Malay or the municipality of Malay is the most Western of all municipalities in Aklan province. The municipality has 17 Barangays (villages) of which 14 are in the mainland and 3 are in the island of Boracay. Malay has almost 25,000 inhabitants of which roughly the half lives on the island of Boracay. The total land area of Malay is 6,731 has.; 1100 hectares for Boracay and the rest on the mainland.

Malay has a part of the "Northwest Panay Peninisula Natural Park", in the hard accessible hinterlands of the municipality. The park is in fact the "last remaining significant primary low-elevation forest" in the island of Panay, where Malay is the most Western point. While this park is somehow hard to access, there are many beautiful nature spots in the mainland part of Malay. Many of these nature spots are easily accessible by tricycle, bus from Caticlan, the entry point to Boracay, others require a little walk up to 30 minutes. The most exciting nature spots are in the southwestern area of Malay and require up to three hours walk: The Dalamuan Falls and the wildlife sanctuary in Naasog. All these nature spots are accessible with Mountain Bikes, which can be brought over from the island of Boracay.
